B Artists Album

I searched the web (ok not for very long, but enough for me) but could not find the cover art for this one. (If anyone know a good site I would appriciate the info.)

It is James Browns album "I Feel Good".

From the quality company "Startrax" so it musk be good. (insert sarcastic tone when reading this line please)

Anyway.

It is the next CD in the car.

Review: AC/DC Live

So I listened to AC/DC Live again, and I must say I was looking forward to it. Like every Australian rocker there is something about AC/DC that is in your blood and soul. They just pump out good music, great played loud. (I agree with the motto "If it's to loud, your too old!")

I only own the one AC/DC album but it is a corker and all I need to own. Hits are all I need from AC/DC. I did own a tape of "The Razors Edge". My first real AC/DC moments, so the songs like "Thunderstruck" and "Moneytalks" are my first AC/DC songs of choise.
They helped inspire me start to loving rock.

I had it playing in the car as I gave some friends a lift, and after cranking up the volume to levels usually reserved for when I am in the car alone(it had to be done), I heard the comment "Can I grab a copy of this?" from the back seat, soon to be backed up by the front seat.

Very rock.

Now the bad. AC/DC in general have a sound, they play that sound very, very well. However over two hours of it can be a bit monotonous, and I love a good gituar solo, but hearing Angus Young play call and responce with the croud for 14min is a bit much,(especially when the croud can only muster of key yell.)
But this is AC/DC and 14min gituar solos are to be expected so I was not going in blind.

As with most live recordings I have only one real complaint. It is not the sound quality, for it is excellent on this recording. I complain about the lack on concert continuity. I would love to hear an AC/DC concert from start to finish, most of the recordings sound either from the start or end of a show. A bit much maybe, but heaps of energy from crowd and band.

On the whole a good album.

7/10

Perks

Ah how nice. One of the very few perks of my job is the random and varied ways I can connect to the internet.

I happen to work in the telecommunications industry as a technition. I have connected to the internet via Internal LAN, ADSL, SHDSL, Wireless, GPRS, WAP, Fast Data card and soon 3G.

I am currently testing a new DSLAM. For all the non telco-technitions, this is the beast that your ADSL (broadband) modem talks to so you can access the internet.
I think most of you would be surprised to look at one of these, they are remarkably 80's looking. Not very spectacular for the amount of data that passes through them.

Anyway

I am sitting here in the noisy fan laden room bored out of my scone. I have 8 circuits to test. I am on the third one of these. The first one has to be tested for an hour. The rest for 15 min each. So (insert wirring of my brain as it does basic maths, gives up and pulls out the calculator) joy of joys 2 and 3/4 hours of testing.
Testing involves my plugging a bit of testing equipment and making sure the big "OK" on the screen stays up for 15 min or hour or whatever. (No kidding the equipment actually says "OK")
Remarkably boring.
However I also need to test the internet. Hence the blog entry.
So for the next hour to hour and a half I will casually surf the internet. Seeing the world from the screen in front of me.

Well it's better than playing solitaire on my XDA.

Ah, nice choice, random of course, for the first go round.

AC/DC Live. I have the 2 CD collectors Edition.

Those Aussies from Scotland who now live in the US, but they are tops so we (the aussies that is) will still claim them. We Aussies do that very well. Claim good stuff, and people, who only have a fleeting connection to us. Not that AC/DC have a fleeting connection to AUS just an old one. But that we might get to some other time.

I will now go away and listen to refresh my memory.

Return for the review.

What is Random then?

I figure I will tell you my "random" way of picking a CD.

I have the CDs organised into stacks in alphabetical order.

With the exception of lots.

Ok, so my two wooden structures (I wouldn't call them racks, as I built them myself and my carpentry skills leave a lot to be desired.) hold heps of CDs, but I have loads, which we all know is more than heaps. So lots of CDs get relegated to just sitting about. Mainly these are the ones I listen to the most so my favourites will be in the "rest" catagory for selection.

So I will choose 1 CD from each stack, usually from near the bottom because this will mean I have not listened to it for a while and it is dusty so it should get a clean. So we will go A through Z then to "Various Artists" then to "The Rest".

However A through Z is not quite A through Z in the strictest terms of the alphabet. For instance, how many bands do you know that start with Z. Really there arn't that many. And E is also another good/bad letter for band names. So some letters get lumped together. We will just have to see what comes up really.

So that is the "random" pattern I have chosen to follow.

What shall be first.

I'll just go find out.

A concept.

Well lazy and bored at work today. A regular occurance.

So as is my want I have been pressing the "Next Blog" button at the to of the page lots. Lots of different and some interesting people and stuff on this beast called the internet and in blogs.

So I formed an idea, not really a new one, but one I thought I might like doing.

I am going to pick a CD in my collection (at least one a week) randomly and do a review on it.

You might figure that this might not have legs, but my CD collection is over 600 CDs in size, and growing with every pay check.

Most of the CDs would be classed as rock, but don't be discouraged by this, if you persevere you will find something you like reviewed.
Will have to go home and find the first CD. Random is so hard to acomplish, but I will give it a crack.

Sundays are for relaxing

Wow. What a busy Sunday. Up at the crack of dawn (actually before it) because my kitten likes to attack my hands when I wake up.
Then get ready for the day.

First a trip to the gym.
Tell you what, I had a break for about 2 weeks due to my trip away and an illness to the guy I go to the gym with, and the weight just seems to get heavier (stupid statement I know, but that is what it feels like) Pecs and bicepts today. It felt like my bicepts were going to pop out of my arms. Good, but not good.

Then a wait and a drink (of coke zero, cokes new attempt at a diet cola for men. Men don't drink diet anything.)

Then on to band practice.
It is only my second time with the guys and I think I am going alright with all but one of the songs. I am the vocalist and singing "Sunshine Of Your Love" is'nt easy for me. It seems to fall right inbetween my ranges. I can't go up and sing it, nor can I go down and get it (octave wise that is)
But it is great fun. I bought a mic and cable and now have a style of singing loosely based upon Henry Rollins. I don't quite have his physice, so my shirt stays on, but hopefully the gym will help that.

So in all I left home at 8:30am and just got home at 6:30pm. No real relaxing but lots of fun none the less.

I think I will go spend some quality time with my couch and kitten. I think they missed me today.

Dedication (I hope you caught something buddy)

More good stuff from a road trip.

Another photo. Well I did just drive 2000km on the weekend. About 22 hours in the cars, and a very numb bum.

This is a photo which speaks of the topsness of Australia. We have a country where you can be on the coast in a town called Golden Beach (Paradise Beach is only 10 min drive away) which has 90 mile beach (yes 90 miles of golden sand all accessable by the public) for a coast line. You can look at the 2 shops and one pub turn your head and see a kangaroo. And one with a joey at that. Way cool.
Look at the symetry of the pair. You would think they were looking at the dog running at them from accross the car park. In my very non expert opinion the joey looks very close to being big enough to be kicked out of the pouch. What a rude shock. Having to hop for yourself.

Nice Photo

Was driving a fair bit on the weekend and took a few photos. I like this one the best.

Greetings

I'm sure most blogs start life like this, as a small thing ineffectual and only giving meaning to one persons life. Slowly building in numbers of readers as people come across Blogs and add them to there list of favourites.

So mine will begin.
And thus the journy has started.
The end is unknown, but the time between now and then should be interesting.
