Hopping Cold

I was out for a walk tonight. I had been walking for about 40 min and was about 1 min from home when I saw a strange looking cat.
I thought "There's a strange looking cat."

And then it hopped. I thought "WTF?"
And then it hopped again.
I thought "Damn, that's a rabbit!"

I looked at it, as it hopped madly in circles around this front yard.
I looked at it as it came to sniff me only to hop away as I moved to it.
I looked at it as I saw the fear and pain in its eyes.
I looked at it as I saw it scared and lost.
I looked at it and thought "What do I do now?"

And I looked at it some more.

I thought of leaving it alone. What good a beast that can't survive on its own.
I thought of forgetting I saw it, and hoping not to see flyers about a missing rabbit.
I thought of getting up and walking away.

But I couldn't.
My love of my own pet, and the considered pain if he escaped compelled me into action.

As the rabbit hopped in for another sniff I clamped my hand down on it and picked it and held it to my chest.
It struggled, but I held firm and it soon quietened down.
I rang the door bell of the house infront of which I found it, but he knew nothing of it.

And so I came home with a rabbit.

It now resides in my bath with towels, brussel sprouts, a zuchini and a dish of water.
Tomorrow I take him to the vet, what else can I do.
I hope they find a home for him, or even his previous owner.
He is very friendly.

I even named him.

I thought of Scotch (Hopscotch), and even Skippy.
But in the end my dark humor and music trivia over came me.

Crue.

For surly there has never been a more Motley Crue than him.

That's a very nice thing you did. If it came to you and you were able to catch it I would say it is definitely a pet and would have died if you hadn't stepped in. I hope you can find it a home.

PS Rabbit really do love carrots(and electrical wiring, beware!)

You're a top bloke, sloth. That's a great story. I hope Crue goes to a good home.

Random rabbits are everywhere these days. My mum gets 2 massive ones in her backgarden every arvo and sees them hopping around all over the neighbourhood and noone seems to know who owns them! They're pretty fat so I reckon everyone feeds them well.
